Kate’s aerial journey began in 2014 when, after moving to Florida, she was able to make her childhood circus dreams come true by taking her first aerial silks class. Before that, she had a background in fitness and belly dance and has been an aerial instructor now for over 5 years teaching not only aerial fabric but trapeze, rope, hammock, web, and lyra as well. Throughout her time training aerial arts, Kate has shown talent and mastery of many apparatuses. However, she has a preference for silks, calling the apparatus her “first love. Kate applies her education in science to her aerial teaching techniques. Focusing on theory and ensuring that students understand how each trick is broken down, and how to use proper body mechanics for each trick/skill. This science mind helps Kate to uncover any hurdles a student may have and problem solve for a solution. She loves to see students take ownership of the tricks. “I don’t want my students to merely be order takers". Kate’s favorite moments are when she gets to see a student unlock a new skill, and overcome something they may have been struggling with. Kate is always trying to grow her knowledge and has taken workshops and private lessons from some of the best in the aerial world, including: Sarah Romanowsky, Christian Sanchez, Sarah Dawn, Liza Rose, Waverly, Karina Silva, Sasha Harrington, Marina Luna and Aaron Koz. She has also trained flying trapeze several times with William Pages of Circus Pages. Kate has a passion for performance. She has performed many times, everything from private events to the stage of The Straz Center. She has choreographed many routines for herself as well as routines for students for competitions and group show routines. She loves when the drama of a song and a skill come together magically, as if meant to be, making the crowd go wild! Kate is excited to be back in Chattanooga, her hometown. And she can't wait to start sharing her knowledge in a new area. When not teaching aerials, Kate can be found doting on her precious fur babies, Dogter Dre and Marshall Meowthers.
